Patient Success Story – Recent Immigrant

Young female pediatric doctor teases little Asian boy before medical examination at outpatient clinic hospital, people public health care checkups, and appointment visits.

Our bilingual navigator Diego received a call from a gentleman assisting his father in locating primary care after recently arriving to the United States. He had just moved here from Kenya, was uninsured, and did not speak English. His son discovered HAU while searching for resources online. The patient could not recall the last time they had seen a doctor.

Diego quickly referred him to a local clinic within his area. Our partner clinic Tulakes scheduled the patient to be seen for the following day. This was a life-changing experience for the patient, who could not access health services in his native country for decades. However, after arriving in Oklahoma and contacting HAU, he was instantly connected with primary care.
